Overnight Oats

Here is a great way to make a batch of no-cook oats in your fridge.  Just put all the ingredients in a mason jar, shake, and refrigerate overnight.  In the morning, give it another shake and serve cold or room temp.  You can also heat it for a minute in the microwave for a thicker texture.  Seriously easy and delicious!  Use your imagination to add different flavors to the oat base.  Here is one version I love..

Makes 2 servings

  • 1/2 cup steel cut oats
  • 1 cup unsweetened non-dairy milk (coconut, almond, hemp, hazlenut, etc.)
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla
  • 1 TB organic raisins
  • 1/4 tsp orange zest

Add all ingredients to a mason jar, shake, and store overnight in the fridge.  In the morning, shake and serve (cold or room temperature).  If you prefer your oats hot and thick, microwave for 1 minute then serve.  

The variations are limitless!  Here are some ideas to get you started: lemon zest, blueberries, sliced almonds, hemp or chia seeds, cacao nibs, pomegranate seeds, unsweetened shredded coconut, bananas, nut butter, grated carrot/cardamom/currants, crushed pecans or walnuts, pumpkin puree/dash of coconut palm sugar, or Greek yogurt topping.
